About Paula Garcés
The Colombian-American actress/producer/director Paula Garcés returns in NETFLIX original hit comedy series, ON MY BLOCK, as fan favorite “Geny,” the sassy and loving mom and making her Directorial Debut for On My Block’s fourth and final season.
One of the first Latinas to star in hit American daytime soaps like All My Children and Guiding Light, Ms. Garcés has starred in hit primetime shows such as The Shield, Defying Gravity and Warehouse 13. Her acting credits also include recurring and guest starring roles on The Sopranos, Law & Order: SVU, CSI: Miami, Major Crimes, The Good Wife, Elementary, Knight Rider, Chase and Breakout Kings. Paula starred as Flora Hernandez in Marc Cherry’s hit Lifetime series Devious Maids, executive produced by Eva Longoria. On the silver screen, Ms. Garcés is best known for her starring roles in films like Dangerous Minds, Clockstoppers, Marci X and as fan-favorite Maria in the cult-classic franchise Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle and its two wildly successful sequels Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay and A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas. At the 2014 Hamptons International Film Festival, Ms. Garcés received rave reviews for her performance in the critically acclaimed indie “The Maid’s Room”, directed by Michael Walker.
Expanding her career further in 2010, Paula Garcés created, executive produced and starred in “The Mun2 Look” for NBC Universal/Mun2 network for two seasons and in 2011 she created and became the voice behind the popular online Latina Superhero character, “Aluna” for battle arena game Heroes of Newerth (HoN) . To date, Aluna has been played more than 90 thousand times a day globally, and the character was expanded to a comic book series “The World of Aluna” co-created by Antonio Hernandez and written by the team behind the Assassins Creed franchise, Batman: Arkham Origins and Prince of Persia. Due to high demand, Aluna made a big return at San Diego Comic Con 2017, and in 2019 Aluna landed a multi-platform video gaming deal. Breaking Barriers as the FIRST Latina Superhero to land a gaming deal, “Aluna Sentinel of the Shards” is an action-packed game that delves into South American lore. The game is available on or coming to several platforms in 2021, including XBox One, PlayStation®4, and is currently available on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam
All of Ms. Garcés’ hard work and talent have brought her great success, making her dream as a small child flourish into reality. Paula resides in New York and Los Angeles.
